Rough idle

Hello, I have a 2007 S40 2.4 that I just purchased about a month ago. I put plugs in it 2 weeks ago and only drove it maybe 5 miles afterwards, and it ran fine. It then sat for 2 weeks before I got in it and it will barely idle and is very hesitant when giving it gas. Tested the plugs, coils, and injectors- all good. When driving it the engine light flashes and display reads slow down or shift up. The convertor smells terrible and is getting extremely hot. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Wrong plugs, these cars are very partial to the recommended type, I believe that year has a waste spark system and requires double platinum with double electrodes. Try a new fuel filter and cleaning the etm, too much unburned gas in the exhaust will cause the cats to get super hot and even glow. Also check your air filter and turbo intake, mass and maf(turbo boost) sensors. Just from my experience, I'm no pro but probably good places to start.

Read the trouble codes...that and go from there. I also suspect plugs. You might not have to do all the other stuff though.
