Max tire width

Post by Klech »

Hey I was wondering what the max tire width was for an 03 s60 on both the front and back. I have 225/45/17 tires on all four right now but I need new tires and I want to get some as wide as possible. I know the ones on the back can be wider than the front since the front ones turn so what's the widesst for front and back? Thank you very much in advance!

I've had 235s (on 19") on a S80 and they're the same in that area. I didn't have the right steering limiters though so they rubbed if I turned to tighly but I adapted to that quite quickly so it wasn't an issue.

Completely ruined the comfort and made the car very prone to water planing though ;-)

I have 235/45R17's on my '03 S60. That is the size recommended by the manufacturer and is what is listed on the inside of the gas door.

Mine rubbed too when fully locked (even with the correct steering limiters) so I installed some wheel spacers (10mm F/15mm R) and now my tires don't rub anymore.

I was talking to a guy which may have given me inaccurate information, however he said that 245 would be too wide for the s60? I'm really wanting to put 235 40 17 on the front and 245 40 17 on the back

I just checked and it was actually 245/35-19 I had on the S80. It worked.
