2010 XC60 rear brake
I took my XC60 to my normal non-volvo mechanic to replace the rear brake pads. I was told that you have to use a special scan tool to tell the electronic parking brake to release. They tried with a couple of different scan tools and had no luck. Does this sound right? Is there any way someone other than a dealer service could replace the brakes on a XC60?

I've done mine a couple times and there is no scan tool necessary. You remove the parking brake motors and then screw the piston of the motor back down. Once finished you activate the parking brake one and off a few times and it recalibrates it's position to work correctly with the new pads.
Thanks,
