Hello,
I have oil leak on a right side of the engine. Hard to tell where.
I have just taken out the plug from the VVT wheel and found out there is a lot of oil. Is it normal that there is oil or it is indicating that the hub is leaking?

Oil at the cam gears may meant damaged seal from clogged PCV box

Lots of oil Inside a CVVT hub, it’s oil pressure that moves the hub relative to cam

The cam seals can leak if crankcase has pos pressure instead of vac. Do the glove test over the oil fill csp, see youtube vids if you dont know how.
If it has good vac then it's likely the cvvt hub is leaking.
To delve further I think you need the camshaft locking tool. I only watched part of this video. It gives a general idea.

Oil there is totally normal. If I recall the shop manual even says to get a rag ready.
How many miles? Your cam seal may be tired and due for a replacement. May want to do all four while you are at it.

I was doing the cylinder head gasket recently. I found that on the exhaust shaft there was no seal on the other side to timing belt. Is it normal? The car was only once before at the shope for work realated to the head when the bolts on the VVT went loose. During the cylinder head assembly I installed the seal. Was I correct?

Some of them don't use cam seals, don't know which yrs but if you didn't have a problem with no seal I'd keep it that way.marcus wrote: ↑05 Feb 2018, 01:59 I was doing the cylinder head gasket recently. It could be my case. The head had rubbered cup which actually had some leak. But the head has drains in the casing the same way as by the other seals. I do not think he seal will create problem.jonesg wrote: ↑05 Feb 2018, 21:06Some of them don't use cam seals, don't know which yrs but if you didn't have a problem with no seal I'd keep it that way.marcus wrote: ↑05 Feb 2018, 01:59 I was doing the cylinder head gasket recently.
