That is a great idea! I was thinking about how to deal with the spare when having my 'camping trip drawer unit' in place.

And included some pics of the slide out table and tool storage I have made in my previous car, a Land Rover Discovery 1. Had to sell due to environmental regulations, unfortunately. It was a bit of a wreck but still miss though!

The wooden dividers help create space: toolcases went in lower left part, lower right part was for shovels, jack, cans of coolant, oil, etc. Top part is for loading bulky stuff, bags, whatever.

I have been looking into using flightcase materials. Don't know where you are based, but using flightcase parts could be an inspiration?
