Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today....now sticky!!
Added a different kind of led bulb to the reverse lights. Now they actually help the extra light I mounted in showing what's behind the car. New to the left and old to the right, it's almost possible to tell the difference.

Big thumbs up to you for the tip on Detroit Axle. I have a right hand rebuilt CV axle for my 2001 V70 coming in. New would have been $657. Detroit charged $58.50 for a rebuilt on. Is the new one better? Probably. Is it 11.2 times better? I have my doubts.mrbrian200 wrote: ↑08 Feb 2018, 16:30 One XC90 back on the road. Started a week ago with my sibling lodging one of several typical complaints I've become accustomed to over the years: "The car started clunking a week or so ago, can you take a look at it? I'm afraid to drive it."

Replaced with a rebuilt OE shaft from Detroit Axle. Loose needle bearings mixed in with the grease and dirt. Outer is still good. I'll pack rat it away in the basement. One does not simply walk into Mordor and throw a good (outer) OE CV joint into the fire.
Here's why I need one.

2nd tranny drain and fill this morning before work since it was so warm. Low speed 2-1 downshifts had become a little hard of late. On the second drain and fill the old fluid that came out was pretty much the same color as the original transmission fluid on the first drain and fill about 2k miles ago. How many is it likely to take for the fluid to start heading for red? I noticed on the way in to work the harsh 2-1 downshift seemed to persist, but on the way home -- after having covered about 50 miles -- it seemed much better. I'm still getting a little RPM fluctuation (not exactly hunting, more like uncertainty) at around 1500 RPM.

You're saying it was still dark?
Really dark? Consider a pump out.
Get it to clean and leave room for 7 oz. of LubeGard (recommended dosage).
Today: A Mobil1 0W-40 oil change.
Goodyear RS-A's holding air and wearing truly. Mediocre tire, I'm told.

The alternators from 2001-2004 don't seem to work on 2005-2009. The other way around as well (long video)

If it was just the second drain and not the second round of drains it sounds quite normal. And personally I'd never stick anything but the specified oil in there.Georgeandkira wrote: ↑21 Feb 2018, 20:16 You're saying it was still dark?

Correct. 2nd drain ever from new at 133,736 mi. Bang on low speed downshift from 2nd to 1st appears gone. As noted, fluid drained was as dark as the batch from the first ever drain.

I had the same view and still do except for the all the stellar reviews of this product I read on the oil board.
I DO NOT believe in "mechanics-in-a-can" (never did). This product is simply a modern lubricant.
Some conversations leaned toward R&Ring the valve body. The LubeGard was recommened as a cheap way of postponing or eliminating that job.
The posts all focus on easier and smoother shifting after use.
I do not sell the stuff.
