Authentic sachs strut bearings

Post by Klech »

I plan on replacing the original strut bearings with sachs strut bearings on my 03 s60 2.4t. On Carid.com they are $20.04 + 14.20 shipping each. Many other places I've visited have these for much more so is there a chance these are knock offs? Also the description says they are front lower strut mounts, this can't be correct can it? Here is the link if anyone wants to look https://www.carid.com/sachs/suspension- ... 8rEALw_wcB

The strut mount bearing is stamped INA so it should be good. But I'm watching the page in the link and it looks like there are two different pictures for the same item. They say strut mount which is the bearing part but the second picture shows a spring seat. I'd call them to clarify because a quality strut mount bearing is much more expensive than $20 and I also don't think there are Sachs branded strut mounts (mostly Lemforder or Ina). While Sachs does make the spring seat and yes it can be around $25.

May also try Ipd, Fcp they sell the spring seats in Sachs and the strut mounts in Ina, Lemforder. I won't touch any other brand. Also, the strut mounts usually last quite longer, it's mostly the spring seats that need replaced (and also the control arms while there - Lemforder)

Have to chime in on this one.
I've seen pictures of horribly rusted top bearings. In my '02 they were practically new with only a small dab of rust to be found.

We relubed the bearings, "thumb sanded" the rust spot off and covered them with 5-56 spray before reassembly. If we had had a stronger outdoor coating, we'd've used it.

Save your shipping papers as you may be returning the bearing plates. Oddly enough, the rubber spring seats (top) looked new too.

I guess it was Ford's way of making up for screwing around with the transmission's programming.
