'02 V70 Front Brake replacement

Post by ssforcey »

I just got a quote for new front brakes for my V70 (including rotors). Would it behoove me to go ahead and replace the pads myself and let them do the rotors?

Price for all was $359.00 using Volvo parts. I hear pads are easy enough to replace. I'm cheap and would rather do it myself if I can. I'm no mechanic, but I'm no dumb@*% either. This would be my first time doing anything like this. But let me tell you...I've mastered all the light bulbs in my car and the windshield wipers.

I've seen several "how-to" tutorials on changing pads but if someone has a favorite let me know please.

Also, I'm assuming that the pads need to be done first before the rotors?
:D
Thanks so much,
Sharon

If the rotors need replacing do not replace the pads first. New pads will bed themselves in to the grooves and imperfections of the rotors very quickly. You would then need to replace the pads again when the new rotors were on.
