OEM Parts Direct saved my husband's life

Post by June »

Last weekend my husband moved my car with a screwdriver in his back pocket destroying the leather seatback. Completely ripping the leather as he exited the seat. All I can think is the screwdriver punctured the seatback when he sat down and when he moved to exit it just ripped the leather like a can opener. He actually called me on the phone to tell me what happened. Needless to say I was not happy. To make matters worse my dealer informed me replacement leather seat covers were no longer available.

Well at the top of the screen here on MVS is OEM Parts Direct so I looked and sure enough the seatback and bottom in Arena Oak were listed. So I told him where he could get the replacement leather and he ordered replacement back and bottom. The seatback is on its way FEDEX and from what i understand the bottom eventually will come from Sweeden many months from now.

Mainly this is a big THANK YOU Matt and crew for MVS and also for putting that button at the top of my screen for OEM Parts Direct as they saved the day! Also if you have not checked out OEM Parts Direct take time to look and maybe that part you need just might be there.. I made sure he told the parts man on the phone that advertising on MVS was responsible for the sale which was around $1000.00 for the two seatcovers and shipping. June

That's not what I expected to read when I saw the thread title
I'd have been furious as well if it was my car.

Some parts for these cars are starting to go out of stock here as well. Nothing I've needed yet but the day will come. Though I did see someone manage to buy new sheet metal parts for the body of their - 85 245 from the Volvo dealer recently which is quite impressive I think.

I agree with you Volvo supporting our old cars is unbelievable! I was surprised replacement leather was out of print so to speak as this was the first item my dealer couldn't get. All I can say is thank God for MVS and OEM Parts Direct! June

Replacement seatback cover arrived today. I am pleased with the speed the package arrived and a nice unopened genuine Volvo part. Now I am waiting for the backordered seat bottom cover before I have them installed. Having the new seatback cover here I feel a lot better about things. Here is what arrived nicely packed. I can see through the plastic the color is exactly correct for my car. MVS and OEM Parts Direct THANK YOU! June

Think of it this way, you went in your wife's closet and put a screwdriver through her favorite outfit of all time. Or say her one place she escapes from the world and put a hole in the door disturbing the tranquility of that place. Trust me she wouldn't take it well.

For me my S80 became my place. It really makes since in my case as from childhood cars have always interested me. When I finally got my hot little hands on a license and the keys to dad's Buick I became Mrs. Toad completely in love with the automobile.

That big 76 Electra Park Avenue was comfortable, quiet, smooth, and powerful. When I took delivery of the 2002 S80 T6 though nothing physically like the 76, it was comfortable, quiet, smooth, and really powerful. In a way it reminded me of that Buick and the thrill of those early days of driving. Though I had two young children the moments alone driving became my escapes from it all. The 04 replaced the 02 and basically drives the same. In my opinion no car Volvo has made since the 2.9 twin charged equipped S80, none have equalled it.

Maybe guys don't need that tranquil place to escape, but I assure you your wives do. My place now has a uncomfortable and unsightly hole disturbing my tranquility! LOL also though it is irrational on my part, but I have a strong emotional attachment to that car. Lots of good memories of my children in the back seat. I don't remember what advertisement said "It's not just a car, it's you're freedom", it sure is the truth here in the USA. June

WE escape by not asking for directions and by seeing how close we can get our fuel tanks to empty.

I would not want to be the one to tell June I just punched a hole in her seat leather. Yikes

Bottom seatcover arrived the other day. I am so happy Volvo in Sweeden sent the part over for me. Talk about customer service! After watching Abscate's thread on the seatcovers replacement I just don't feel confident enough to try it. Also the airbag scares me a little. So I will have them installed. I have opened both sealed bags to see that both are a perfect match and they are. Thanks again MVS for having OEM Parts Direct as a easy link! June
