This is one of those “too good to be true” prices. The seller has to make us work!
I doubt I’ll get to it before anyone else, as much as I would like it. I still have to sell my other car first.

I felt the same about a couple of R cars before... I think people do it just to drive us crazy.

I think at this point good and cheap R P80s are going to be barn finds. You're going to have to go out and find them, in other words.

If you only rely on the Internet, you're only in the vast playing field of Volvo enthusiasts with a few thousand to throw down. The Internet makes an environment where anyone with a smartphone is a player. It's a "perfect information" environment.

Everyone has access to the same information... Craigslist, MVS and other forums, eBay, etc.

Now that I have spent a couple years here and read plenty of posts about R cars for sale. The things that really made the T5R special are commonly on Volvo cars these days. Some of the really special selling points like the first SIPPS bags, 17inch wheels, and high pressure turbo with it's 15 extra hp are not that exiting anymore. After all Volvo can make a 2.0 4cyl with 450hp! That is more hp per litre than any car company at least in 2014 when Volvo showed the engine. In the available world to buy today is S60 Polestar.

So guys seem to want to change these cars beyond original recognition to squeeze more out of them. Than after all the mods and age cause a endless money pit, suddenly the car is for sale with a list of modifications longer than the worst criminals rap sheet. That must really narrow the number to 5 nice clean unmolested completely oem cars in barns or original owner garages left if that. Then it comes down to money. Like you said we all have smart phones.

I think of that Buick dealer up north with the only untitled Gran National GNX (500 made, fastest stock car for 1987) sitting on the showroom since new in 1987 and still new on the showroom floor not driven. If you have the money the dealer wants it can be yours. I actually thought about it as I drove a GNX one time in 87 and luckily nobody died though my bf nearly did in the passenger seat. June
