It's tire time and the Michelin correct for my car were discontinued in 2017. The new replacement model is not as good. Had a road hazard last spring replacement and it is prone to flat spots after getting good and hot then parked overnight. So now what?
Looking at a set at Goodyear 225/50ZR17 94W Eagle F1. Anyone running these? At $151.99 A tire it seems cheap for good performance tire.
My dealer wants to install Hankook tires since I don't want the Michelin tire. I do not want foreign tires. I wish Volvo made tires in Sweeden! Then it would be easy! June

There used to be tyres made in Sweden, town and brand Gislaved. Now owned by Continental and made somewhere else. Closest thing is Finnish Nokian who apart from world class winter tyres also make some good summer tyres.
The in laws had F1s on their Saab 9-5. Either they were soft and fast wearing or the Saab ate tyres because they replaced one pair every season or so even with a couple of months spent on winter tyres and perhaps 20-30 k km driven each year. It was the high power Aero version but I don't think they really used the power too often.
Over here there are some really good, long lasting tyres with good performance without being track worthy. I've got Goodyear Efficientgrips on which get good reviews but they're made in Poland so it might be a euro model though over here they are available in your size AFAIK.

Come to find out Michelin still makes the tire, but the model went to Michelin Pilot Sport. The one Pilot Sport on my car sucks. The Primacy MXM4 is still made though a Primacy 3 a more expensive and supposed quieter better gripping version is also made.
Anyone tried the Primacy 3? After talking to my advisor at my Volvo dealer if I pick a non Volvo approved tire I won't get the Volvo warranty. I could care less about the warranty or price. I want the best performance possable preferably not too noisy of a tread and of course highest level of quality.
Figures a good quality Sweedish tire would end up out of production! Here in the States companies more and more try pushing Chinese or Korean crap. Even Volvo S90 are made in China for the 2018 year here in the States. So you have to look closely at what you buy. June

Surprising you guys didn't have much to say about this. So I wasn't getting anywhere with my advisor over at Volvo, I took her over to a local Michelin dealer and had Michelin primacy MXM4 W rated tires installed. At $225 A tire they were cheap and handle, ride excellent. I am 100% happy!
I tried to deal with Tire Rack since MVS gets credit, but they were too much of a nightmare. Their website refused to sell me the Michelin tires I wanted, insisting on telling me those tires are wrong for my model. Refused to show me anything but H rated tires for my 2004 S80 T6. I can't think of any modern Volvo that comes with H rated tires factory. I want Michelin and Tire Rack would show everything but. After several tries to look at V and W rated tires just to get nowhere but back to cheap H rated non Michelin I simply gave up. So forget Tire Rack in my opinion.... June

I've never had trouble getting exactly what I want from TR. If their site doesn't want to show by make/model then clear/start over and shop by tire size. They don't necessarily stock every available size for every tire, but if they normally carry the product line they'll order it in if you call and talk to them. Their main corporate hub is 25 miles away from me. I've always avoided shipping charges, just get in the car and go.
W speed rating...really? You have a will or trust set up right?

The MXM4 225/50R17 W is the exact tire model that was the Volvo approved Michelin tire my car and last set installed in 2016 at my dealer. So I bought the exact replacement of the previous Volvo approved tire that used to be sold in dealerships. My problem was Volvo decided to change to the Pilot Sport series replacing the Primacy series. Otherwise I would have never asked the question to begin with I simply would have had my dealer put a new set on.mrbrian200 wrote: ↑14 Mar 2018, 16:48 I've never had trouble getting exactly what I want from TR. As far as Tire Rack they had my tire, I went to buy a set of four then ended up with their site insisting to know my cars year make and model. Once I did that I just ended up with a message that that was the wrong tire for my car. I double checked the fuel door to find the size 225/50R17 is correct and yes W is the correct speed rating for my application and what the dealer has been putting on my car. I will add my particular car came brand new with Michelin tires right from Volvos factory. I assume the rating must handle the cars top speed? I would think to put underrated tires on a car would be more dangerous.
Second part of the frustration I had. I was trying to proceed to check out on a set of Michelin tires to be rerouted to non Michelin tires. Why would I bother to call to have some salesperson tout wheat their website was insisting was the correct tire though the site I know to be wrong proven by my fuel door tire label?
What I am really trying to say is Tire Rack needs to look at their software and like Amazon if you put the item in the cart sell that item not some completely different item. I even left the site and went back and it knew automatically I had a 2004 S80 T6, so there was no restarting. I don't use a computer just my Samsung Galaxy note 8 for everything internet related. I don't know what to tell ya June. I entered 2004 S80 T6 on TRs site, site says 225/50R17 is appropriate for that car, and can add 4 MXM4 94Ws to cart. Show in stock, can be delivered to my address tomorrow for $11.16 per tire (or based on my home zip code I also get a free pickup option). That was on a laptop. However, tried it again on my friends' Samsung phone...no problems on that either.
May not be anything you or the TR is doing wrong. It sounds to me like the phone might be a little over zealous about caching web page data or a problem with autofill locking you into some other car you've shopped for in the past even though it may appear as though you've selected for the S80. Note autofill is a function generated by the phone/browser and is not controlled by the website you're visiting.
