This stop neutral feature I’ll look into and check the car, I will admit to you gearboxes are definitely a new playground to me, so will have to tread carefully and slow, Amazon on that link say they don’t ship to England so will find it somewhere else, thanks again for your help.

Unless you have a mechanical failure I would wager that you have a sticking solenoid in the valve body.

It is possible that putting in magic potions will clean the solenoid. If you want to try that route go with some SeaFoam Trans Tuneup or similar - what ever is available there - it is your money. You need something that will clean up the buildup. Watch some YouTube videos by "Automatic Transmission" and you will see what you are dealing with on the solenoids.

Do some digging and you will find right ups on how to address the problem. You can also pull up "Mike Loucas" when you search "aw55-50sn" on YouTube. That should be all you need, plus he has a LHD XC70 as his patient.

If you don't want to rebuild the valve body, you can leave it in place, and just remove and swap out the solenoids, many have had success with this approach.

Of greater concern is the upcoming CL matchup where MC is playing Liverpool.

Hi and morning from a snowy-ish Liverpool and am supposed to be going on a charity bike run tomorrow, am going to try any and all addictives mainly what you named until summer and if no fix I’ll invest in a new valve body, I’ll start my search on utube on Seafoam iv already heard of that but I didn’t know you can get it for auto boxes.

Quick question this Seafoam sound good, do you think it’ll be ok to use even tho I have the Lucas additive already in the box.

I don't know what the Lucas additive you put in is. If it is just an oil without cleaning solvents you should be okay. The SeaFoam Trans Tune is a solvent. You don't want to "double" thin and "double" solvent your tranny fluid. You have to stick with what the can says as their labs have done the testing.

Watch the valve body or solenoid rebuild videos I mentioned above by "Automatic Transmission". It shows you exactly what the issue is and the guy really knows his transmissions, assuming your issue is in the solenoids. Personally I don't think a solvent will work if the buildup is as bad as what the video shows.

Just curious, is the transmission issue better/worse at cold/hot temperatures?

Solenoid sticking is generally reported to be worse at elevated temperatures as the core or slug in the solenoid heats, expands (slightly) and sticks more in the coil.

The gearbox is perfect for the first 15-20mins of driving and then it acts up, I done the B4 and a flush made a great difference for the better but it still acts up when hot, I bought some seafoam for it yesterday and took it for a good 40mile drive to get it hot so I could check levels etc and guess what it didn’t act up haha so I stuck it in anyway, that’s not the first time it hasn’t acted up while iv had this issue..... strange.
