P2 Alarm module compatibility 9452709

Hello, I will be in a junkyard soon to get a light switch module. While I am there, does anyone know about the alarm module compatibility from car to car and year to year? Mine had the problem with the leaking battery and ruined it. So I thought I might try to pick one up while I’m in there.

Also, I will need new tires soon as well. I’d love to get some 17’s from an XC90. The car had 16’s from the factory. If I swap to 17 inch wheels, will the computer be okay with it? Correct speedometer etc etc?

The junkyard ones will have the same problem. Can you clean up the board and replace the battery?

If you go to FCP and put in your part number for the alarm module, it will tell you fitment.

Update FCP shows 9452709 used on 2001 through 2007 , all P2

No I can't. I read a forum post about trying to salvage them, but mine was ruined. I also read another where the guy jumpered the wire to make it longer, and then located the battery elsewhere so it wouldn't do that again. I was hoping maybe they used the same ones up through later years and I could find one that isn't bad yet, and just relocate the battery like he did. But yes I'll check fcp to find out about fitment, didn't think of that.

Any thoughts on changing wheels and tire sizes?

The plastic box itself if the same for all years P2 models 2001-2009 (the XC70 went to P3 on 2008 I think)

The mounting bracket is different so you'll need to pull the siren from the bracket (two side bolts and it slides out) if swapping from a XC90 to a S60 for example. For this reason sites give the module a different part no.

Sadly, there is not stamped date on this parts, no real way to know for sure if it's a recent one. My trick is to look at the two bolts that keep the siren inside the bracket: if they don't have rust on them it might be good (except if you live in Florida)

At the junk yard the way to pull it is by removing the right headlight (often times someone else did it for you): you have access to the two side bolts, loosen them, slide out the module then undo the electric plug. The bracket will remain on the car.

Someone had a trick (youtube) with the battery from it's electric drill, two wires and he could power quite a few things in a scraped car.

So to have the best chance of getting a good one, I should pull from the latest model available, obviously. If that happens to be an XC90, I need to get just the module, because the bracket won't fit my V70. Correct?

To further complicate things, I pulled my original module out a few years ago. I'm sure my bracket is long gone by now unless I hung it back up there on the car. Seems like i just pulled the module out of the bracket, and left the bracket hanging there but I don't remember.

But, if it is gone, I can get a bracket from a V70 or hopefully an S60, and any module will fit the bracket, and the bracket will fit my car. Is that correct?

In other words, all P2 modules are the same, and they are plug and play, so the only issue with compatibility from car to car is the bracket. Do I have that right?

That is right, you may look for a bracket from a S60/V70 however it is attached to the chassis with a secure bolt which needs to be cut on place, which turns not to be an easy junkyard job

As for pulling it from the latest model, I would rather look for the older years (2001-2005 or so) because of those the chances are better the owner already replaced the module. On a 2008 for example the original siren might still be working or at least not causing problems so perhaps the owner didn't replace it yet. Simply put, we are only looking for a siren that was already replaced and it's less than 5 years old.

Any thoughts on changing to 17 inch wheels from an XC90? Right now I have 215 55 16 wheels and tires. I'm not sure what all the computer does with the data it collects as it counts the tire rotations. For example a 17 will travel slightly farther in one complete rotation than a 16. Will the computer know? And my Speedo still be accurate?

That's a bonehead question I know, but I've never changed from factory wheels on any of my cars before.

17" are better looking but less soft riding. However not sure if those from the XC90 would fit
