Since the bushings of my rear shock absorbers are really rotten, my car will not be able to pass the next inspection.
The driving comfort is also not so great, in bad curves the wheels tend to "jump". I have bought a set of 4 Bilstein B4 shock absorbers and would like to use them together with my standard springs.
Unfortunately I am not sure what else I need and what it makes sense to replace as well.
For the front shock absorbers I need a kit with dust protection and stop buffers, I already know that.
Then I think it makes sense to change the lower part of the front strut bearings, often called spring seats (because mine are 20 years old).
part# 30647763 or 30683637, right? But unfortunately I found other part numbers for these parts, which supposedly also fit for the C70 MY98, e.g. 9173203, 8646713, 3546238, 9461728 ... (?). Seems somehow everything the same, how is it different?
What about the other part of the strut bearing (roller bearing)? Should this be replaced or is it "indestructible"?
Can all other parts actually be reused or should washers and nuts be replaced to be on the safe side?
I ask myself the same question with the rear axle.
Obviously the mounting is much less complicated.
I often have a rumbling on the rear axle, would it help to renew the rear strut bearings (part# 9140847)?
There are a few other problems.
The left front wheel has some clearance.
A mechanic diagnosed a worn out "inner tie rod end" as the cause.
I don't really understand what part it is, because there are obviously no different tie rod ends for inner and outer side.
I can only find different tie rod ends for left and right.
Anybody have any idea what he might have meant?
The outer drive shaft sleeve is torn on both sides. If I see that right it has to be disassembled a lot for the exchange (I don't want these glueable sleeves).
What should be replaced at the same time?
I don't want to burn money, but I want to drive this car for a long time. I like it somehow. Therefore I don't want to have to have the same repairs done again in 2 years.
I'll have it all changed by a mechanic.
Suspension, brakes and steering are things I prefer not to touch, but I'd rather order the stuff myself.
When I leave the choice of spare parts to a independent motor-vehicle garage, often quite inexpensive parts are used which then do not last particularly long...

I was afraid of that already. I am sorry for this.
My vocabulary is enough to explain most things in everyday life, but when it comes to technical terms I have problems. Then I usually use translation tools and the result is a combination of terms that may seem logical to me but does not make sense to a native speaker.
I'm going to rework my article today after work.

Some of these things you might not know to replace until you take it apart.
The strut mounts, or "roller bearings," can be reused if they're turning smoothly. I just reused them after replacing the shocks in my 2000 V70. I'm going to replace them in my '98 V70 because they're looking like they're in bad shape.
The spring seats should be replaced, as the rubber wears out and can crack, especially if they're 20 years old. There's an upgraded, heavy-duty version, I believe.
Each front wheel has an inner tie rod and an outer tie rod, and it makes sense to replace them both if you need the inner one because it's all going to be taken apart. I would also replace both sides. I'd also check the control arms.
Hope that helps!

It is indeed!
Is this car out of warranty?
Are you fixing it yourself?
