I've seen some of these product listings by third party sales (separate entities) marketing parts that come from/ship from LKQ.
Contrary to what you're thinking, it shows a higher level of transparency from LKQ. In many third party sales arrangements you would would be hard pressed to discover the suppliers identity unless you start googling addresses on shipping or return labels.

It wouldn't make sense that there is a single large supplier of used engines,I did not mean to represent that here. I assumed these guys are consolidators of some kind.

If I were buying I would use this as a locator service for something nearby which I would then go inspect and negotiate a price accordingly.

Last time I bought a used engine it was for a ford taurus that decided to throw a random rod at a relatively low mileage (maybe 80k miles on it). Sourcing locally was no problem for that car - local wrecker had one with 25k miles for something around $350 and even dropped it off for free. But unless you live in a larger city one might have trouble finding a good used engine locally for a Volvo at any specific given moment (when you actually need it).

I just took a look too, and it seems like there's a ring of websites of different domain names (automotix.n t / savlageyard.n t / smartguy.c m) who all use the same 844 phone number, leading back to LKQ in MI. While clicking through the riff-raff of these sites, it started feeling a bit creepy - the sites began to look less and less professional.

I suspect these (other) sites get a kickback for driving customers back to LKQ ? Or perhaps they just set up shop next door to them, and have access to their online search database tools and load that on their sites...

Shop carefully and do your due diligence via a few google searches of phone numbers, BBB ratings and whatnot. Whois on the domain itself comes back to Go China Domains, LLC..... Marketing strategy perhaps?

I guess if I decide to shop with LKQ, it would be best to deal directly with them via LKQCORP.C M directly, or like Swede said, via EBAY where you have a little paypal protections.

Hey guys, has anyone bought an engine https://orbimotors.com/used-car-engines/volvo/ from this website? I`m looking for an engine for volvo s80 2.4 129kW and found one there. Thinking to ask them about prices, but never bought from that seller and want to hear if you have any feedbacks?
