For your consideration, my other European boondoggle:

This car will never win the Amelia Island Concours, but nor will it embarrass you, stain your driveway, or leave you stranded. Best daily or weekender W124 you will find. And it's a lovely coupe, with the pillarless window frames - perfect for hanging an elbow off the sill and bumping some Wu-Tang.
Price highly negotiable. I'm moving in ~a month and can't have three cars where I'm going. (If I get the title for the Fiesta in time, I may sell that before leaving Texas too.)
Realistically I'm not expecting anyone here to be super interested. I doubt y'all need a Euro luxo-boat even fussier than a '90s Volvo, but I can't tell you how serene an experience driving this car is. From the perspective of getting you between two places in comfort, this is easily the best car I've ever owned. If nothing else, check out the pictures and tell me how much you dig it, just to validate my having bought it eight months ago.

Those are nice cars and run forever when maintained, just like Volvos can. Did it have the bio-degradable engine wiring harness replaced at the same time as the head work (classic head gasket/oil leak issues on that engine)?

Unfortunately I only have records from 2008, so I don't know exactly when the harness was replaced. But the date code on the harness suggests that it has been replaced, and the parts used do not have the biodegradable insulation. So it's good to go.
Beautiful car to drive, and the interior plastics are of much higher quality - where the Volvo crumbles in your hands, the Mercedes comes apart and goes back together cleanly. But mechanically, it's more needy than the Volvo. Our cars have some frustrating mechanical issues that shouldn't be a problem - heater cores, PCV systems, valve stem seals - but all of them are relatively easy to hit. The Mercedes M104 head gasket every 100-150k is absurd.
