Greetings!
Just wanted to introduce myself as a new user, looks like this is the spot folks seem to do that. My name's Dave and I am a proud owner of a 1987 240DL Estate Limited Edition (ooooh.... Aaaahh) which I purchased last month. Actually all the features that set this model apart as Ltd Ed. are non functional so it's just your typical brick. I call him Pepe. So far I have changed the oil... Twice. After the first oil change I got the old pop and thud. Thought it was a goner, but the flame trap was clogged. So after losing 3 quarts of Mobil 1 I got to change it again. Pepe has a litany of minor issues to address as these often do. Need to do the motor and trans mounts. I have an electrical gremlin that is draining my battery when it rains. Reverse is missing a couple teeth. I'm guessing I need tie rods because there is some play in the front end. The inner piston is seized on my rear caliper driver's side. The wiring that connects my rear hatch accessories and lights is completely severed and so brittle that there is no prayer of repairing it. Just went ahead and disconnected all that for now. That's about all I can think of of the top of my head. Fun stuff. I have previously owned a '79 Estate that was remarkably similar and there wasn't a whole lot I wasn't able to accomplish on my own between forums and YouTube. I'm hoping for the same luck with this one. I was going to post a couple pics, but having some difficulty with that. Anyway, pleased to be a member and look forward to sharing my adventures here.
