Changed out the fuel pump gasket today finally... maybe my P0442 will disappear. It was a pain to get the gasket seated, but it's done.
The old one had some cuts in it presumably from being seated incorrectly, so that's a good sign.
What did you do to your Volvo today? Topic is solved

Swapped O2 sensors in the '00 V70. Denso sensors went in, replacing Volvo/Denso-branded ones.
I was surprised how far forward the rear sensor was located compared to the '98 V70, which I did a few weeks ago. Ended up using a nylon strap to pull on the ratchet handle, for greater leverage.
The rear sensor (below) was caked in black soot. The front one had some slight white residue.

took it out for the parade laps at Harris Hill Raceway yesterday! having sold my Fiesta, I pulled out of the actual event, but the parade laps are open to all.
WOW my car is not ready for track use. worn all-season tires, alignment issues, open diff. I could barely keep up even in a no-helmet session, though it got a bit better as I picked up the line.

On Thursday on my way back from court I hit 160,000 miles at the gas station.
Still love my Volvo, even though only 30,000 miles are mine.

That sounds like so much fun! Out of curiosity, how fast we're you able to go before noticing the issues you mentioned?j-dawg wrote: ↑10 May 2018, 07:01 took it out for the parade laps at Harris Hill Raceway yesterday! having sold my Fiesta, I pulled out of the actual event, but the parade laps are open to all.

I once hit 120mph in my then-new 1997 VW Golf on a smooth, straight stretch of highway in southern Colorado. Exhilarating!

I replaced the coil springs in my 2000 V70 in order to address the sagging rear end. Original green Volvo springs came out. Heavy-duty Lesjoforrs springs went in. I also swapped out the aftermarket shocks that were in there with a Sachs pair I found on sale.
The car feels a bit like a pickup truck in how stiff it drives. Hoping the springs break in all right.

I wasn't watching the speedometer, but parade lap speeds weren't higher than 60-70 at the end of the longest straight. The alignment issues and awful tires really hampered turn-in; the car behaved differently each time I approached a corner. Not safe at ten-tenths. Second biggest issue was wheelspin. The traction control is way too aggressive. After I switched it off it wasn't as bad, but it's hard to put power down out of a corner in an FWD car with an open diff. I came to appreciate my dearly-departed Fiesta and how well its brake-based torque vectoring worked.brunocerous wrote: ↑12 May 2018, 12:12

It was fun, though! The car needs a lot of work, and I didn't want to push it right before my upcoming three-day drive, so I didn't know if I should do it. But those 5-6 laps really made me want to get the car back in shape, give it some upgrades, and get it out on track for real. I still plan to get another sports car, but putting laps down in a big square box would be a great laugh.
Also, someone was there with a red S60 T6 Polestar and someone else with a beautiful blue P1800. I've never seen any Volvo out on a track day, let alone three at once.

I made that mistake once a long time ago ...heavy duty springs on a passenger car where I didn't actually need them. Someday in the future you may look back and regret the decision. Especially if you generally drive alone without much cargo.brunocerous wrote: ↑12 May 2018, 12:19 I replaced the coil springs in my 2000 V70 in order to address the sagging rear end. I've never driven one of these with any suspension mods, but the P80 chassis feels like it can handle really well. Even my stock GLT on the 195 tires (which I just changed out for 205s on Columbas) feels really good on the local twisty back roads.j-dawg wrote: ↑12 May 2018, 18:44I wasn't watching the speedometer, but parade lap speeds weren't higher than 60-70 at the end of the longest straight. That's what I really want to do with my R now. I'm already beginning the M56 swap, but once I do that I plan to get some iPd subframe bushing inserts to start, then figure out a lowering spring setup and maybe eventually iPd's sway bars. I'm mainly focusing on suspension upgrades on that car since the stock B5244T2 puts down some good power, especially once I get a tune. I'm just planning on basic bolt-on upgrades engine-wise.
Then once it's "done" I'll take it to the Tail of the Dragon to put it to the test!
