Ordered a used rearview mirror off eBay, swapped the good glass to my factory unit, reinstalled, Good to go.

I had mentioned these in some other thread maybe six months ago. I was on the lookout for a set of these after ruling out the Volvo hooks because 1: ridiculous cost, and 2: the Volvo design hooks look 'breaky'.

I suspect they are standard equipment on the A8. Based on the observation that two A8 Quattros at the yard had them. Lower VW/Audi models, there were only a few at this yard, didn't have them installed. But the holes to mount them in the trunk are present.

I bought a pair of those off Aliexpress. Intend to stick them to the sides of the trunk of the V70 so I can keep bags from sliding around.

A smart thing to do would be to see where metal is beneath the plastic trim so your screws could hit meat.

I intend to take the trim off and use large washers or small pieces of sheet metal behind to fasten the screws

I used the screws that came with them, drilled small 3/32 pilot holes on the bottom of the rear deck as the screws aren't self threading. Also I used 3M VHB tape between the hooks and the chassis of the car as a safeguard against vibration noise when I turn up the radio.
I pulled 4 of them, three fit nicely across the back of the parcel shelf. I'm trying to figure out what to do with the fourth one. Note that the Audis only have two per car, one on each side. I pulled a total of 4 off two cars. The guy charged me $1 for all of them. I had other stuff in my bucket that added up to a grand total of $16.something. $1 for four beats paying shipping for something I didn't absolutely need right away. I knew I'd find some eventually at the pick and pulls.

Another day, another rant. One by one all those IPD branded suspension parts I installed 18 months ago are getting taken back off the car/re-replaced. And the Volvo finally drives nice without all the front-end handling issues and chronic suspension noise.

You know it doesn't matter how 'HD' you build the end ball joints when you use a cheap 'plasticy' boot that splits open in short order.
I really get annoyed when parts I recently spent good money on, advertised as an 'upgrade' as compared to OE, don't last. I've formed a very low regard for that comapany's house branded parts. In this case I went back to an OE/Volvo part.

Thanks for the update. I don't trust the IPD brand HD or not. Maybe the HD works for 12mths but then again, is that long enough to call it reasonable quality for the price? My actual rant is, all these sites, Ipd, Fcp, Eeuro, all of them sell low quality cheap merchandise that's good anywhere from 3mths to 18mths. Why? Very simple. Many people start first by buying the cheapest parts. Then 1 year later they get the idea and buy the quality ones. Do the math: the site has sold twice to the same customer. Even the sites who say: lifetime warranty know that the customer will not ask again for the cheap part because he has to replace it again and it costs time and/or money. So the customer won't ask for the warranty on a Uro/Febi/Proparts/Ipd/Meyle/Karlyn/ spring seat, he will buy Sachs the next time: more money for the site.

Its more like if you don't sell the cheap stuff, people will say "XXX is expensive" on the internet, and they lose business.

Its on us to think about why the $60 Volvo heater hose is not the same as the $15 URO

There are people who want one more year out of their car, and the cheap parts fill that need.

I generally like iPd products, but yeah, those "HD" endlinks are junk. Mine lasted about one year.
