Again I don't know the owner, and have some misgivings that this is a real 'R' like he claims. It may be a real one and a rare color (I think only 9 were sold the following year in NA). I did e-mail the owner for pics of the engine and interior as the rear V70R badges looked off so wanted some comfort it was genuine. He just blew me off.

Very interesting. someone put a lot of time and effort into this. A conversion like this requires some serious engineering. Too bad there is no history available on that part.
I guess the batteries are located in the trunk and gas tank area. And because of the added weight in the back thay added an air-lift suspension in the rear springs. I noticed it right away because I'm using the same setup in our 13' Odyssey to keep it level for towing.
First I thought it was odd that they used a manual car for this, but I guess it makes sense form a design standpoint. It 's easier to deal with because the transmission doesn't require any control inputs to function.
