The avatar one is not mine, but indeed it was a stunning color called Maya Gold, think it was offered only on 2001-2002. Internet pictures don't do it justice, in real life it totally looks like a special color
It was featured in a few promotional videos

For the belt 1mm side ways movement it's not bad, how much is the tensioner hand actually wobbling, in comparison?

If you ever need info on VVT replacement, then the thread below has everything you need.
Each new Volvo VVT is about $280.
Search the web, but the experience of rebuiling the VVT hub is not good. This is why people buy new VVT hub.
Large oil leak after replacing exhaust camshaft (cvvt) seal - help needed!

Tensioner hand is wobbling the almost the width of the window it is supposed to be inside. The center of the hand is going roughly from one side of the window to just shy of the other. Maybe 5mm total travel? Hard to estimate down there.I have a video but am not sure how to post it?
Cn90, thanks for the info
What would constitute replacement of the VVT hub? If I find that it is the source of the leak does that mean it needs to be replaced? Also, where would I be seeing leakage from on the hub? As of now Im not sure if I can tell the difference between leakage of the hub, solenoid, or cam seal. Though I think at this point I will be replacing both the solenoid gasket and cam seal regardless.
Cn90, thanks for the info

It could be the vvt solenoid is reacting slow, if the cam sensor at the other end of the shaft is loose.Kara503 wrote: ↑09 Jun 2018, 15:57 Tensioner hand is wobbling the almost the width of the window it is supposed to be inside. That could send the vvt hub nuts and produce the movement youre detecting at the tensioner.
Just another thing to check.
Mine was loose and threw a code.

Would not have thought of that! Will make sure to check it once I have time to thoroughly investigate this. Thanks!!jonesg wrote: ↑09 Jun 2018, 16:13It could be the vvt solenoid is reacting slow, if the cam sensor at the other end of the shaft is loose.Kara503 wrote: ↑09 Jun 2018, 15:57 Tensioner hand is wobbling the almost the width of the window it is supposed to be inside. Whatever is causing the light misfire you mentioned is likely the culprit because varying inertia in the system will load the belt and make the tensioner wiggle with every miss. If you disconnect a fuel injector and observe the tensioner with a full tilt non-firing cylinder you should expect to observe the tensioner wiggle with every miss. I'm not ruling out the VVTs as others have suggested. But if that doesn't pan out with regard to solving your excessive wiggle problem, and I have my doubts, you'll need determine why the engine isn't running smoothly. Could be anything from a plugged injector to a bad spark plug or ignition coil, a sticky valve that momentarily torques the timing belt every time the cam lobe forces that valve open, up to and including low compression on a specific cylinder.
If for whatever reason you don't fix it, or determine the cost to fix more than you want to spend, then I would shorten the timing belt components and water pump service interval.
