Oxidization on Block
Hi! So, I'm noticing a bit of white aluminum oxidization powder on the block on my V50. I'm thinking that if i scrub it off with a brush, and clean with a chemical solution, then wipe some oil or WD40 over it, I might be able to seal it lightly and prevent future buildup/oxidization. Is there a more permanent solution to keeping this oxidization from happening? I'm hoping there's something that doesn't involve pulling the block, polishing it, and having it clearcoated. Though, that might be the best solution here.

Spray with vinegar.
Scrub with a soft bristled brush.
Flush with water.
Anything that keeps the aluminum from coming in contact with oxygen will prevent Aluminum Oxide. Use your imagination and resources. There is a reason Volvo paid extra to paint the block White.

I might try the enginebright brand. They make one that foams up. On my car the camseals were leaking down the transmission, the bottom of engine and under carriage was soaked with oil all the way back to the rear bumper... nasty. I took a 2 gallon pump sprayer with water and poured about a 1/2 a qt of dawn dishwashing liquid into the pump sprayer and hosed down the underneath and then I powerwashed with a it down with a 3100 psi power washer like a real hillbilly! Yeah... rolling on.
