98 V90 Massively cracked heater core - diverting coolant system?

Post by tillsverige90 »

Hi,

My heater core is severely cracked - if I get above 4,000 - 5,000 RPM, the coolant hisses and sprays into the passenger floor and fogs up the windshield, almost instantly triggering the low coolant warning light. I just need to drive it around for a little while (~3 miles between work and home) until I get a new vehicle figured out, and also presumably I could sell it for 2-3x scrap value if I can drive it somewhere.

What would I need to do to take the heater core out of the circuit? Just disconnect the hoses from the firewall and connect them together? It should run fine that way, just with no functioning heat/defroster, right?

Thanks for any help.

Yeah you can just connect them together and you'll be fine.

I think you could even just stick hose clamps on both and leave it if it's for a short while.
