Got a bit of a weird problem. I replaced the whole front suspension on my c70 about 4-5 months ago. A couple of months ago the passenger side suspension started creaking when I turned to the left almost full lock. I finally figured out this afternoon what it is. I a friend turn the wheel while I watched the suspension. I could see behind the wheel that the rear lower control arm bushing was actually moving horizontally. I checked the bolts to make sure that they were tightened good and they were. But it's like the arm itself was actually trying to tear away from the mount. Has anyone ever seen this? This is a new one for me. The car handles fine and there's no movement of the wheel when I check for play with the car jacked up. The control arm replacement was a lemforder by the way.
Thanks

What brand of control arm did you use? I had one fail on an 850 after a repair shop replaced it within 6 months. So it could just be a bad control arm.

The part was a lemforder. From what I found online the amount of movement I was seeing is fairly normally. I sprayed it with some silicone spray and problem solved.
Thanks

That is good news at least. but suggest you keep an eye on it. The groaning can be the limit stop at maximum steering turn rubbing on a dry nylon block on the control arm. Try some silicon grease on the block and see if that helps.

Well the problem started up again last night not long after I took it for a test drive. I then saw your response about the bump stops and tried that. Hasn't done it all day.
Thanks Neil

You will have to do that from time to time as it is exposed and will get washed off. At least it is a 10 sec easy job to do!
Glad it worked for you.
