My daughter is making a move from Memphis TN to Portsmouth NH in 3 weeks and will need a good mechanic there. She took a job that is almost a $20k boost in salary after you adjust for the cost of living between the two cities. The Volvo service center in Memphis, Smisco Independent Volvo & Import Services Center, was recommended by a MVS member 5 years ago when she made the move to Memphis. Smisco has been a great shop and she has had a good relationship with them.

She has a 2012 C30 with a little over 150k on it and would like to get another few years out of it before moving to the XC40 (she is heading my advice on not buying a first year model). The last service was the major service plus a new AC compressor this past spring. She is due to visit me in Atlanta before she moves up and she will get a final oil service from her mechanic in Memphis about 1k earlier than what would be a normal service schedule. Smisco will change the oil and give a full inspection prior to the car being shipped up to Portsmouth.

If anybody can give me a good recommendation on a mechanic or shop near Portsmouth I would appreciate it.

The closest is Jaiden Auto Volvo Specialist in Newbury, MA about 21 miles from Portsmouth.
Go here to search for other Volvo repair specialist in the area.

After she decides on one, have the maintenance and repair records transferred. Changing mechanics should be like changing doctors, the better the history is known, the better the care
