I must see the price at my local Volvo dealer. I'll start with the Momentum.....so many electronic features.
Sure does look pretty.

I wish they'd bring back R models. Polestar-ized Volvos are not the same somehow.

But yea, this car looks great. I think I mentioned my R laments because this car looks sporty.
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Also -> Amazon link
. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

1998 V70, no dash lights on

1997 850 T5 [gone] w/ MSD ignition coil, Hallman manual boost controller, injectors, R bumper, OMP strut brace

2004 V70 R [gone]

They burned the R brand to the ground when they made it a styling kit available for even the weakest diesels. It needs to first stop being burned then rest for a while before anything can be done with it.

I don't know how they did it. They managed to out-do the P2 S60 in the looks department. I wasn't sure they'd pull it off. Especially after the rather generic looking P3 S60 I wasn't sure where they'd go with the new ones.

Regarding the 'R' business. It was probably time to drop/change the designation. Too many other OEs have adopted the 'R' moniker as part of some ridiculous option package in an attempt draw attention to otherwise totally uninspiring vehicles.

I present to you the Honda Civic Type "R". OMG the combinations of ugly/impractical/lack of refinement makes my head hurt to look at.

Spinning higher performance vehicles into the (trademarked!) Polestar brand was probably the way to go so long as they don't shoot themselves in the foot by folding non HP models into the brand.

Luxury class mid performance Hybrid/EVs suited for primarily for grocery runs/ & commuting need to be sold under the Volvo brand.

The Civic Type R has been around for ages though. It's just gotten much more ghastly lately ;-)

And the R Design package for Volvo is still an option for all the new models.

I don't feel Volvo cheapened the R designation by doling out "R-Design" cosmetic mods on everything. Or at least I don't feel Volvo cheapened it by much.

It could have been much worse: it could have been just "R" they threw around.

Debasing happens every day over at Chevy. For 25 years they've been taking badges and names from greats like the Corvette and slapping them on even the lowest Cobalt cars.

That others are doing it worse is no excuse. The first R Design package for the P3s looked and still looks terribly cheap. It's better on the new SPA cars though. Nothing I'd pay extra for though.
