2009 C30 2.4Si cam belt

Post by TheOEL »

Hi ya,

My last post was to do with a faulty vacuum switch that was giving me problems. I ordered a new one from U.K. fitted it and all is well. Thanks to everyone for their advice.

My 2009 2.4Si C30 has now done 50,000 miles. My query is: Should the cam belt (and water pump, tensioner) be replaced at this age and mileage? There seem to be many and varied opinions on this subject. If it is necessary are there any torque settings that are specific to this job?

Regards,

For the 2009 models with 5 cylinder, recommended replacement interval for Timing belt, tensioner and idler pulley, is 120,000 mile (192,000 kM) or ten years which ever comes first. I recommend you remove the cover and check for belt stretching, tensioner fatigue, belt deterioration and other issues more often then that.

Yes there are torque specs when doing that job. I recommend you install Vida 2014D_RePack so you will have ton of information at your finger tips.

A $80.00 full chip DiCE diagnostics interface would be a good investment if you will be doing your own maintenance and repair. Use the 2014D_RePack, not the software that comes with the DiCE.
