Replace Radiator in 2001 S80
Replace Radiator in 2001 S80
Was quoted $800 to replace...want to give it a shot myself. I've got plenty of tools, how hard will this be? Any tips? Exactly what type or retainer clips will I need to replace the ones that will inevitably break when I remove the hoses. I've got pretty steep jack stands, will that be enough or do I need a lift?

Probably very easy. After you're done and looking back at it
, that is.
Here's a page on MVS with a PDF on replacing the radiator on a S80.
If your S80 is N/A (not turbo), ignore the intercooler stuff in that PDF ("CAC"). You don't have an intercooler.
A Nissens radiator for my Volvo 850 I recently bought from eEuroparts.com came with the clips for the fluid connectors/hoses.
Ramps or jacks are fine. A lift is not necessary for radiator replacement.

It`s not really hard, but not much fun. If it`s a T6 with the intercooler than it`s really not much fun and you will definitely need a helper who can actually help and not just hold things.

The radiator, intercooler and A/C condensor are all sandwiched together. They are VERY hard to separate.

I've attached the PDF from Vida which may need to be pulled down from this site to stop Matthew getting into trouble. Let me know when you have it.
