A bit of crud but not horrible. Probably telling you a PCV job is nigh.

Get paper in every hole that is opEn. It’s amazing how well a socket can bounce, and;and into hole from three point range

Luckily you don’t have to remove the engine to get it out, just turn the Car upside down.

We have a nice Volvo lady in Florida who can do for that for you.

Your 100% correct dont ask me how I know. Grrrr live and learn.
PVC Sys is less than 3 years old maybe 15K miles on it. But easy to check at this point.

Hellloooo out here in Volvo land......
Anyone out there? Bueller Bueller?

Has anyone tried or Done the Cleaning of the Valve cover or Cylinder head with EASY OFF OVEN CLEANER.?

Brake cleaner and wire brush isnt working out so well Purple power is not even a good hand cleaner... I got some Heavy Duty degreaser from lowes but that seems useless, I get the same results with water and a brass wire brush....

Anyone ? Anyone?

Thanks guys

I read some where that oven cleaners and aluminum do not behave well together. If you go this route make sure what ever you buy can be used on aluminum.

For my head I brought it to the machine shop and had it ultrasonicly cleaned before they milled it flat. When I got it back I lapped the valve seats and changed the valve stems - did a rinse and reassembled.

The driver's side, cylinder 5, is typically dirtier than cylinder 1. Build up is typical on 3-5 and that is why those cylinders have the higher valve burn out rate. Best prevention is changing engine oil more frequently and synthetic oil usage.

Forget to mention the piston top contact damage is not bad. Just make sure to sand down the high spots so you don't have detonation issues.

Thanks Superherman.

I couldn't wait I used the oven cleaner on my other valae cover, Sprayed into a cup and brushed it on and into everywhere I wanted it, Worked it in with a nylon brush let it sit for five mins and hosed it off It seems to be working good.... just kept it out of the cam journals if im wording it right.
It soaking again... not sure about the lapping....I seen it done but never done it...
The high spots on the pistons was going to be my next question. I will knock them down...

Thank you.... its over 5 mins time to rinse. I'll post some after pictures.
