Fog light switch weirdness - 1989 740 Turbo

Post by lucast »

Hi all

I am trying to troubleshoot a frustrating problem I am having with my used 740 Turbo's front fog lights.

It only wants to switch on when the main headlamp switch is set to the middle position - i.e., the fog lights are 'tied' to the parking lights.

I have replaced the relay for the foglights (middle row, second from left) and yet I still get the same issue.

I suspect it's a wiring thing - I bought the car used and beaten up, with the front fog lights removed because the previous owner smashed the mounts I have since repaired the foglight mounts with epoxy and am now trying to get the lights working.

Any tips?

Thanks

Lucas

Right, I have been told by someone that that's how foglights are SUPPOSED to work :o i.e., they replace the usual low beam headlights.

So my next question is, which wires do I switch to get them to work WITH the regular headlights on low beam?

Thanks!
