2001 S80 T6 HVAC fan slow when on auto

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Hi - I've noticed that both on hot days and cold days the HVAC system's AUTO mode doesn't ever crank the fan. It can be 90+ degrees F outside and it'll only give me about 70% or so. It's just recently turned cold and it's the same thing, the fan just seems lazy on auto.

I can adjust the fan speed manually, that does work and gives me what seems to be full fan speed.

I don't remember this being an issue with an '04 Volvo I had, so I don't think it's a quirk/feature of the car. Any ideas for stuff to check? I have a VIDA/VADIS and haven't seen any HVAC related codes, but I'll check again later today to make sure.

Checked VIDA, no HVAC related codes. Right now it's just ABS and the driver seat airbag codes that I already knew about.
