Turbo control solenoid compatibility question.

Btw, this is where I placed it. Extended the cable and reused the IPD bracket since I already had the holes for it.
It is aslo much smaller than the IPD valve which makes installation easier.

After driving with it for some time I have to say the difference is huge. Before boost control was pretty much on/off, now I get good boost pressure during part throttle which is a blessing when driving an auto car... makes it much more predictable and driveable. Maybe my IPD unit was already bad after all, no idea.

Reviving an old (but good) post on TCV/BCS solenoid compatibility... The part listed above (Pierburg Volvo PN 9465528) isn't available from my favorite parts store (FCP https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... o-30670449). They have the newer version for the 2004-2007 V70. Has anybody had experience good or bad with installing this one in a 850? Thanks!

I just got that one straight from the dealership as a replacement for my iPD HD one, which I managed to mangle...

Works great - I’d say it feels even sharper than the iPD unit. Pop it in there.

I actually ended up using the AC Delco unit, found one, and a pigtail, inexpensively, works fine. Search ac delco tcv and Volvo 850 it pops up. But the Pierburg (updated one) looks like a great solution as well, probably the simplest one. I wouldn't hesitate to do this simple upgrade if you suspect your old unit is on the weak side.

The AC Delco aren't readily available in europe (at least when I tried to find them). The Pierburg are also used by a range of other european manufactuerers.

@jreed I guess you can use the even newer parts, (it looks exactly the same as the one I used) - I think als long as they have 3 ports they most likely will work.

I was in the junkyard a couple weeks ago and found a valve like the one shown above on a '98 V70 turbo. Once my old style valve starts failing or slowing down, I'll likely put in the newer one.
