Thanks guys! I will look into a good sealer for the paint. I've got some pretty good results in the past with ProTech-products, but I can't find any retailers in the Netherlands who sell it. And my local carparts retailer - who is very fond of Meguiars - does not recommend the paint sealer of that brand.

Edit: I've just found the webshop for ProTech products. I don't know how wellknown this brand is with you guys, but I recommend these products highly. Back in the day when I was a weekendhelp at Halfords, I used these products for my own car and the cars that I fixed. It's cheaper than Meguiars and the results - at least in my humble opinion - are equal and sometimes even better. The link to the webshop: http://www.protechshop.nl/nl/

Yes, it's in Dutch (or French), but I'm more than happy to point some things out for you guys! :D

Had a rather productive night. Installed the new passenger door, driver side fender and new hood. All the parts finally match, they may be a bit dented but at least they match again. Finished the fuel tank installation, changed out the fuel filter, and assembled some intake pieces. I even found time to replace the brake booster hose, holy hell that is a frustrating job. After some hood and fender adjustments I should be back on the road tonight.

The new nano sealants weren't around just a few years ago. They're absolutely amazing compared to traditional waxes at least when it comes to the work-results ratio. Try them before getting the "good old stuff", which will still be there if you don't become a believer. If you're in Europe Labpcosmetica Beneficia should be easy to get as an alternative to the CarPro version.

Polished up the hood on the R, but I can never seem to get the results that I want. A flawless finish takes more work than I care to put into it!
Anyway, the hood came out nice. I clayed it, used Meguiar's Ultimate Compound on a cutting pad on the DA, and sealed it up with Meg's Mirror Glaze Hi-tech Yellow Wax. It wasn't awful before, but it looks pretty good!
The bumper came out pretty well too. It was oxidized on top under the headlights and grille, but I was able to remove most of that oxidation. I need to delete those wipers soon!

At some point I need to do the rest of the car, but it really only need a lighter polish with something like some Mirror Glaze Swirl Remover 2.0. It's one thing buffing a Miata, but these Volvos take a looong time!

Also, yesterday I removed what was left of a clear bra... I have no idea why anyone would put this crap on a car! I have the same problem with these as with the old leather car bras... why protect something that's always going to be covered!?!? Sure, clear bras may help prevent rock chips for the first few years (but not totally prevent them), but 20 years later, it cracks up and looks absolutely horrible!
It was a massive pain in the rear to remove this stuff. The paint got a little chipped up in the process, but it looks a whole lot better now. I found Turtle Wax Label and Sticker Remover did a great job of softening it, but it was still a very tedious process scraping it away with a razor blade.

I know what you mean. One of those nano sealers I use is from Autoglym, it's called the Quick Aqua wax and the results (on a clean and wet car) are amazing. You can wax your whole car in like, 15 to 20 minutes. I'm curious what results Meguiars and ProTech give on the S70.

That's still a wax. Not what I'm talking about. Check out CarPro HydrO2 on YouTube and you'll see what I mean. Two-three minutes to seal the car.

Thanks! It's Venetian Red Pearl, a pretty rare color from what I understand. The best info I can find says there were less than 50 made for model year 2000 only.

You'd have to be going really fast for your paint to look good

The color code is 445. I really like it! Unlike laser blue or saffron it isn't as obnoxious, if you will. It's a more understated color, but it's just beautiful under the sun. That's not to say I don't like saffron or laser blue, I almost bought a laser blue R a while back and I still really want a saff.

That's a beautiful paint job bmdubya1198. I'm personally really fond of XPEL as a clear protectorant. Easy to install and remove, and does a great job preventing rock chips and scratches. Unfortunately, it was too late for me to save my S70's paint by the time I got the keys.

Almost bought a 98 S70 T5M in a metallic orange (not sure what paint code that is). Looked beautiful inside and out. Unfortunately, it had a blown engine and I really didn't have time for an engine swap. My biggest regret in life thus far...
