Door Locks Automatically - Sometimes

Post by Oka »

The second XC70 I started driving early this year. I have notice something about the locking system.
Seem it happens when I get to work in the car. After opening the door to pop the hood, right after two minutes, the door system automatically locks. I unlock, after two minutes, it just locks. Yesterday I went to the store, left it unlocked, locking system did not lock. After doing some minor work earlier, was in garage for a while putting back the tools I used, I had the "chickim", the door locking system, locked. What the ghost is happening here?

This same car, after driving it for about one week (from the transmission replacement mechanic), I was working on some minor that were part of the Buy As-Is, I was going to the hood when the mud lights came on. I got startled. I mean the lamps underneath the side mirrors. Another ghost? By the way, what's up with those lights? On both of the 2001 XC70, they are dormant, never comes on.

Thanks

When my car started locking itself I changed the battery in the key fob , it never occurred again.

Interesting! This automatic locking system is part of the system setting/option that can be changed with the tool, right?
Thanks.

If car is locked and you unlock with fob WITHOUT opening a door or hatch it should automatically lock after a period of time.

Played with the locking system with the key inside the car, with a window opened just in case.
I now like the automatic locking system. My ignorance was messing me up; just be cautious.

Thanks a bunch
