battery question

Post by oceanman »

the battery in my ranger is gasping for its last breaths. i have a die-hard in there now. the cold crank amps are (should be) right around 600. does anyone know if there would be any problems with putting a new battery in there that has a higher cca (about 800, or so)?my neighbor has one from her old bronco, and she said she would give it to me.
i know this isn't a volvo issue, but i thought somebody here might know.
this site has been a huge help with my 850.
thanks,
mike

No problem at all with more cranking amps. Just make sure it fits.

awesome. thanks, mij. i felt like a dummy asking that- i'm an electrician. alternating current i get. i know the basics with d/c but the finer points elude me. i wasn't sure if all the extra cranking amps would overload the system.
thanks alot for your help and advice.

It's amps (same volts otherwise)...don't know about AC current, but only what is asked for is supplied so not possible to overload the circuits from what I understand.

Glad it worked...and in Lee's words, "one more happy customer." :)
