You can replace the subs mounted in the back shelf behind the rear seat. Though I have a T5, and I don't know if all models had rear subs? The stock subs are great if you have the stock amplifier under the passenger seat and it still works.Ocelot wrote: ↑20 Nov 2018, 05:52 Wow, that looks like some serious work man! Nicely done! Yup, definitely a TCM problem is the up arrow is flashing. Fortunately in my case I just cut and jumped some wires to get rid of that, but not everybody is doing a manual swap!brunocerous wrote: ↑20 Nov 2018, 06:00 Good to know. Thanks!
I should've mentioned, too: The dash is also lit up like a xmas tree, including a flashing up arrow.
Speaking of which, the transmission harness removal is complete! This was really not necessary, but I feel like the swap is more complete with all of the wiring gone. Plus I got rid of some ugly connectors that were just danging under the battery tray.

Found my vacuum leak, one of the caps on the vacuum tree dried out, split, and fell off. Looks like I should replace all of those.WhatAmIDoing wrote: ↑19 Nov 2018, 16:03 My elm327 bt OBDII reader arrived today. Got to play with it a little along with xiaotec's 850 OBDII app. It's cool being able to scan and read ALL the codes. Seems to be DTCs set by everything accept the ABS (thanks mattymoo).Might post a screenshot later.
And a new code has joined my old friends. Now setting a P0172, too rich. Acceleration is still good, cruises fine, but it does smell a little rich at idle. Idle also seems a tad high. Guess I'm looking for another split vacuum line again.

I have this sub mounted under my passenger seat, cost effective and sounds great (it did take me a while to get the settings straight though):

This shop is in Amersfoort but also ships. I dropped by because I wanted to check the size and the guy was really nice and helpful.
Message me if you want to get more details?

That's my current fantasy: Either swapping my MT into the XC or putting the turbocharged engine into the V70 base!bmdubya1198 wrote: ↑20 Nov 2018, 08:14Yup, definitely a TCM problem is the up arrow is flashing. I decided to attempt removal of the starter motor in the cheap '99 XC AWD that I picked up for its third row. I posted about it here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=87410
This pipe that runs underneath the intake manifold (turbo inlet?) doesn't let me remove the fan or the shroud to access the starter in the first place! Both the fan and the shroud are off but stuck in there, and I've since removed the oil dipstick, too. Still no dice. I'm contemplating removing the intake manifold and doing the PCV while I'm at it. Or maybe draining the (orange) coolant to remove a couple of hoses.
But I don't see how to remove the hard plastic pipe that's in the way. I've looked around on MVS and elsewhere but have yet to see another engine with this obstacle.

Usually I'm able to push the intake tube towards the manifold enough to slip the fan past. If you need to, you can remove the hose camp from where it attached to the ETM and slip that hose off, but the problem at that point is that it's much easier to do this when the fan is out of the way.
I can't stand the design of the '99+ intake.

Thanks! I had been nudging it over but didn't want to crack or dislodge the intake pipe. Even loosening the clamp and rotating it out of the way would help, but I can't see where it attaches.bmdubya1198 wrote: ↑20 Nov 2018, 15:14 Usually I'm able to push the intake tube towards the manifold enough to slip the fan past. It's pretty much right in the center of the underside of the intake manifold. It's not the easiest thing in the world to get to, but hopefully the last person to mess with it put the screw on the hose clamp facing the front or front right so it's a little easier to get to!
