True or false......can you put transmission fluid in the power steering box? I have been using transmission fluid as it is cheaper than power steering fluid but someone said it is hard on the seals.

No, you are to use transmission fluid....Don't use "F" type...just use whatever you use in your tranny...Dexron II or III or even Mercon ATF is fine.
