... I miss some bass in the sound but... I don't see me installing a big subwoofer and amplifier in the trunk of the car. Is there some... midway? Like a small subwoofer and amplifier in one device that I don't know about?
Despite all the extra wiring I did, that is what I have: a subwoofer amplifier combo or a Powered Subwoofer.

Rockford fostgate makes a 10 inch powered that fits perfectly in the spare tire hole (mine is a 12). There are also even smaller ones you can mount under your seat
But, once you start wiring, you may find its not much less work without a separate amp, just less wires and possible mess.

I bought mine for $180 from Sonic Electronix. 60 day returns, 1 year warranty

There are also low pitch bass speakers you can replace the rear door speakers with, it wasn't enough for me, but it was substantial.

On our way to Thanksgiving dinner in Queens yesterday, the engine took forever to reach normal operating temperature. It dropped to the 4 o'clock position while on the highway, which was unsettling in our fully loaded, main family vehicle.

So, today I finally addressed the thermostat I had neglected during my coolant refresh a few months ago due to a stripped bolt on the housing. Several drill bits and two bolt extractors later, I hooked up my HFT screw extractor and finally got the bolt loose.

A new FAE sensor, a new Wahle thermostat and a new Rein upper radiator hose completes the refresh I started earlier this year.

I also tried to swap my serpentine belt but only ended up with two bent nickels.

Ha! The sensor that came out had all the same markings as the FAE.

The thermostat that came out had the same Wahle markings and a Volvo brand on it.

Tip on the serpentine belt tensioner... pick up a 1/2" to 3/4" socket adapter. Put that into the tensioner and turn it with a 19mm open end wrench. That method works best with OEM tensioners. The Meyle I had for a while needed to be widened a little. I used some big groove joint pliers to turn it from the assembly because somehow it was easier!

I think Ocelot has already ordered the same underseat sub I have.

Ocelot,

Here are some pictures of the install.
Make sure to put the cable under the seat rails before you connect both ends... I forgot and had to do it twice.

Not so much of what I did to my volvo, but what some idiot 18 year old driving his parents 2018 mercedes GLE (or whatever the ML was) in the dark with no headlights on and tboned my t5 to bits. My dad was driving it at the time. He walked out with only minor bumps and bruises. The front end of the mercedes was gone. I couldn't even see where the engine had gone.

I've examined the car and the side impact safety on these things is absolutely out of this world. For that reason I'm definitely sticking to Volvo's for a long while. The tow truck driver himself said that had it not been a volvo, my father would've had to be taken away in a stretcher.

Rip t5 :( she was a fantastic car. Ending mileage was 342430km (or 212776 miles)

I am so sorry to hear about your T5 but glad that your dad is OK and walked away. The photos are incredible, and I am horrified at the carelessness of some drivers.

Thank goodness he was in your Volvo and is safe!
Sorry you lost such a beautiful wagon! Hopefully you find a new baby.

All others have copied Volvo's SIPPS bags and AIR CURTAINS, but don't copy the SIPPS bar under the seats with center crumple zone. It saves lives like your father's. Earlier this year my father's friend died in a side impact in a brand new Nissan Altima. So even a old Volvo is safer than a 2018 Altima. Really there's no excuse for that! That is why I refuse to even ride in a non Volvo the last few years which paid off earlier this year when I was rear ended in a 2018 XC90 service loaner on the interstate that me and my elderly father stepped out unhurt thanks to WIPPS and the impact absorbing frame.

Ouch that's quite a hit. Glad your old man is ok.

It's interesting to compare crash tests. Audi Q7 and XC90 got the same rating on the IIHS but looking at the tests the cars behave very differently and I know which one I'd rather be in.
