Hi Everyone -
I've got an issue with my 2001 V70 T5. It's a bit strange, because I'm not consistently hearing a noise, rather when I accelerate, decelerate, or move the transmission from R to D or vice versa, I can feel a popping through the steering wheel. It seems to be related to the motor moving, and it's pretty consistent- If I'm on the freeway and accelerate or decelerate, I can feel it.
I have jacked up the two front corners and I can't visually see anything wrong.. my first thought is a bad motor mount. The top mount looks okay, but I'm not exactly sure where to look for the others? I also read something about a steering column bushing problem with older cars? This seems like a possibility?
I'd appreciate any insight!
Thanks,
Greg
2001 V70 T5 - bad motor mount? other?
Could be the tranny mount as well. Check the firewall end of the torque arm for wear on that mount.

Could also be the shift linkage. But check the lower engine/tranny mount. If I recall, on P2's there is no firewall mount on the end of the torque arm...the circular mounting bracket attaches to the cross bar....or is this only on our '04 V70?

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I may pull the torque arm assembly apart, just because it's the only thing I can really locate and access easily!MadeInJapan wrote:Could also be the shift linkage. I'm probably going to have to bite the bullet and take the thing to someone. Ah well!
