2006 S80 Fender Removal

Looking for a tutorial for 2006 S80 fender and bumper removal. Any direction would be greatly appreciated. Stuck and can't get the right front passenger fender off.

I assume your 2006 is a Gen 1 S80. For the bumper it should be similar to earlier models.

For the fender, once the bumper is removed you will have access to some bolts that need to be removed. These are located in the front corners near the plastic guide where the bumper cover slides for alignment.

I did this a number of years ago on a 2004. My recollection is the fender has some bolts on top which attach to the frame rail, covered by the hood, some bolts in the front of the door (you will see them when you open the door(maybe three top, middle and bottom), the bolts mentioned above in the front corners, and maybe one or two under the trim piece. It has been a number of years. Best approach is to take off the bumper cover, and then the door bolts, trim piece bolt (?), frame rail bolts and then those on the front. Take some pictures of the front so you put it back together correctly. Pay close attention to alignment here. Disconnect any side light markers.

Pull up some fender pictures on the internet and you will see the various bolt hole locations. The front ones are not obvious as the plastic guides come into play, but once you have the bumper cover off it will be obvious. Most Volvos are built the same so you can look at some videos for S60s or XC90s to see what is involved.

The biggest pain for the bumper and fender is drilling out all the rivets without burning the plastic and then finding suitable replacements.

A pre-face lift fender will not fit on a later car. I have a fender in my attic as proof.

I attached the fender using black tie wraps, works well and is easier to remove + replace.
