2004 S80 - Shifting issues?

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

2004 S80 - Shifting issues?

Post by dejongmc »

Yesterday a new issue popped up.

While driving I noticed that it didn't accelerated from 0mph as well anymore. When you start driving it feels like it is in a higher gear, so it slowly picks up speed. When doing 30mph or 40mph it feels as normal.
But then when I go to 50mpg or 60mph there is a high pitch noise coming from the engine bay (not the engine) and the rpm's are relatively high for the speed, so it looks like it is in a lower gear. On the dashboard it shows the transmission is in 'P' while I'm driving. When I go from P, R, N, and D and back the dashboard keeps showing P.

(I know my ABS module is not working correctly and needs to be replaced, but I do not think that is related to this issue, but maybe it is ...)
