There are two styles of Upper Torque Rod Mount for the top of the engine-to-firewall connection. The earlier one has a basically round bushing while the later one has a square or rectangular bushing. The later one appears to be much more robust, so I can't see any reason why anyone would buy a replacement part with the older round design. Volvo parts compatibility data will show you which mount your car left the factory with, and it may be a round bushing mount, but the later square bushing mount is a direct replacement. I think my money is better spent on the later design which looks much more robust. Here are some pics:
Below is the Hutchinson mount I just rec'd from FCP:
Below are two pics of the mount I took off on my car. It wasn't completely gone, but it does have significant cracks. When you look through one of these to evaluate it on your car, the clear places where you see red brick are not tears but just places where there is excess rubber from the molding process. But the less obvious small black cracks are tears in the bushing. These may be hard to see with the part on the car. Note: One minor hassle with this job is that you have to remove the black plastic spark plug cover, so have your torx tools with you.

I had problems with that square version as it would not clear the frame/torque frame to the firewall. It fouled on the frame and prevented the rubber portion from flexing. I had to grind part of the new bush metal to make it clear.

Neil, I'll take a close look at mine tomorrow, but I didn't see any problems.I am assuming that you mean that the bracket between the two bushings was fouling against the casting holding the engine bushing. I did have to use a screwdriver to get the bracket onto the engine bushing, but it only required a very light touch to spread it a millimeter or two. I'll check it out when the sun comes up! (Although it is snowing in Pennsylvania. Ever get that in Calgary?)
