What's kind of starter replacement are compatible with 2005 Volvo V70 2.4L?

Post by Dwaynelowry »

So I went to my local shop and they said the starter needed to be replaced on my 05 Volvo v70 with 2.4L engine.
They quoted 2 hours of labor. What's kind of starter replacement are compatible with 2005?
I know next to nothing about this,so any insight or reccomendations would be great.
I read many threads suggest Buyautparts but it's expensive.
These were I'm looking to order from:
https://www.dbelectrical.com/products/s ... xnEALw_wcB
https://www.hexautoparts.com/new-starte ... 17508.html
I'm probably going to go with a Hexautoparts starter replacement because of price.

Can't answer but is the starter bad for sure? Sometimes it's simply the connector cable

Hex has a " brand new Volvo starter" for $45

Here's your first hint of what might go wrong

Check out the cable problem.^^

A used one from a parts dismantler will last a lot longer than any of those. Starters rarely fail.

Are you doing the work your self or letting the shop do it? If the shop is doing it they will want to use their own part or you won't get a warranty. Cheapo rebuilds fail too often for my taste. You can ask the shop if they have a rebuilder, I have had several, various brands, done for $100 or less, with a shop that is top notch here. Never an issue.

It is a pretty easy job to do yourself. I would find a rebuilder - ask what they replace and service - and bring it there if price and rebuild level is agreeable. Otherwise buy from a site sponsor.
