Really? Both my 1995 850s had T50s in the console. They were both 10 valve models.....Was that a running change that later ones had console adjustment? I would imagine you would require both types of adjustment in a well designed park brake.

Mine I believe is an early 95. 20 valve. I think what they're saying is the "coarse" adjustments are made in the drum. Then fine adjustment is in the console.

Not enough coffee in me yet. I didn't read Abscate's post properly.

Personally I would adjust from cabin 1st and if you run out of thread and park brake power I would release the cabin adjuster and go to the drums.

The adjustment in the brake is made to put the shoes close to the drum. The adjusters under the console are only to accommodate cable stretch which is minimal on these cars.

The drum adjusters are moving the fixed end of the shoes closer to the drum, that's important to get good parking brake holding.

On a P2 that changes, the cable works differently.

Updates.

So, I wasn't able to get under the car to look for fluid leaks. Its about 3 degrees f with a wind speed of 15-25 mph. Needless to say there was not much done outside on the car this evening. However, I did go for a ride. There is no slippage of the clutch in any gear on the flat or going up hill. When I parked the car after the ride I put it in first (parking brake disengaged) turned off the ignition and let off the brake. The car rolled and stopped. It was holding just fine!! I was putting it in reverse because my Brother, whom I got the car from told me it rolled in first gear. He didn't say it wouldn't hold. He said he would always put it in reverse, parking brake engaged. So I tried reverse, no parking brake, engine off. It also rolls then catches and stops. Identical to parking in first gear. This is on level ground so I'm not sure what its like on any sort of incline. The end result is that I believe this to be a non-issue. I do appreciate all of your responses!!

The second issue of the parking brake. I counted 6 clicks when pulling the lever. I can get a 7th if I haul on it a bit. I tried to tighten it at the console with the t50 but was unable to get the tool to engage with the screw. The tool I have, mounted on a stubby socket wrench is too long so I can not get the proper angle. I may try it with a u-joint tomorrow. All in all I'm on to the next project. Which will be the front inner tie rod, and reverse light switch.

Again, thank you all for your help.

Yeah, it isn't good driveway car weather here in the Northeast. I couldn't get Wizechatmgr over for an oil change ladt night in -7F 40 mph gusts even with an offer of free used oil.

You need to adjust the parking brake at the wheel first. If you can't move the star adjusters then wait until spring then get the rotors off and get the parking brake shoes cleaned up and everything tight in there.

A manual transmission car will roll a bit until the engine compression stops it , a bit more than an AT car. That makes you cooler than Matt though, who still covets a stick shift. Well done.

It s just far enough away to keep me from stopping in every day and just close enough that I can get parts asap if neccessary.
