I have had a leaking heater core that I put off fixing (till now) About a month ago the blower also quite working. This is a 1998 S70 with the adjustable degree temperature control. I am wondering if the leak became bad enough that the blower is not turning on due to insufficient heat in the core.
Let me know any ideas.
Could heater core leak cause blower to quit

The blower motor is not connected to the heater core electrically or anything, and a leaky core won't necessarily put out less heat. A failed heater core wouldn't affect the blower unless there was just so much crud in there that it obstructed airflow (you would hear it). When the blower motor died, was it making a lot of noise? If so, it's probably dead. If not, I'd pull it out and apply 12v to see if it runs. If it's fine, then I believe your car has a blower motor resistor that tends to go bad.

No it didn't make any noise I just noticed it quit as it started to get cold outside in the fall. I'll get it opened up and test it. Unlike the old style resistors this one does not operate at any speed.
