I'm the proud new owner of a gently-used 850 GLT sedan. It's the fourth Volvo I've owned; I had a 1989 240, a 1991 850 (which I only had a few weeks before it was wrecked), another 1989 240, and now the 1996 850. All of them have been named for the members of ABBA; this one's Benny.
It runs like a champ. There *are* a few issues; the paint overcoat is peeling off in places, and I will have to pay ~$150 to have my old single-din radio that has USB input into the double-din hole in the dash-- doing the soldering and adding the aux input to the existing radio isn't something I'm comfortable attempting. The center vents blow only cold air, but can be closed, and the rest of the ventilation seems to work correctly after one day of driving.
I'm very pleased with this car, considering I paid only $3500 for it. There're 246K miles on it. These old Volvos are like blocks of iron, and if this car's anything like the ones before it I should get many years of reliable service from it.
