Flash code reader. Lots of excellent posts on here already detailing how to make it and read it. All you need is three bits of wire and a 12v led. A switch makes things easier but isn't required.

Rolled ALB to EWR at 0300 to catch the 0600 SFO

I honked outside BRUNOs and Evans but they were too busy harvesting used oil

Made my 226 HP T5 into a 250 HP T5-R with a bench ECU flashing rig I cobbled together.
Now suddenly dips up to 12 PSI on the boost gauge, which was a little startling (since I didn't think I could make it work :P ).

Drove it to work.

Dropped the s60 off for tires and oil change, so took the s70 in today.
Tried to get a detail but my guy is booked today, sounds like im bringing it back to work tomorrow or friday to get washed lol.

Finally got my S80 back! A VVT hub sprung a leak so the timing belt had to be replaced early. Both VVT hubs were changed, actuators were cleaned, cam and crank seals, timing belt kit, water pump were all replaced. The shocking thing is how smooth the engine runs. It always has been smooth, but it now has no feeling at all except power when the petal is pushed! I must have been driving it for the last year or so with one of the hubs intermittently not working properly. I was going to have them changed at 200K with the next timing belt, but the car had other plans! I am at 175k now. There had been a funny sound just above idle that is gone now. I assume it was the hub that was failing. After driving a 2019 service loaner for the last 15 days and getting back into my S80 T6, I simply like my car better... June

What model was the 2019 loaner? Why do you like your car better? Just because it's yours and you're more comfortable in it or was there something wrong with the 2019?

I was in a 2018 XC60 T6 which had the engine light come on so they traded it out for a 2019 XC60 Inscription with the extras. I loved the heads up display! The adjustable seat bottom in the Inscription is too stiff for my liking.

The new Volvo cars are wonderful, but I just don't like the 4cyl engine. It is noisy with a Japanese sound, and lacks something my 6cyl has power wise. The T6 2.0 has great acceleration but lacks feeling? My S80 2.9 T6 has the acceleration but also has that nice push you in the seat feel.

The 8 speed transmission is aggravating in that half way through a intersection it is shifting. Also the 8 speed pauses in between shifts noticeably during moderate and beyond acceleration. Many of the 8 speeds have annoying shift flairs between 2nd to 3rd and again into 4th under normal acceleration. Also there is a noticeable neutral software during stops. Worse on the T6 less noticable on the T5. Also the manual mode is useless in traffic as the lower gears require upshifts immediately. The 4 speed in my car is way better in heavy traffic. As the manual mode during stop and go traffic can be left in 1st to use the engine breaking and can go fast enough in 1st without the need to upshift.

I drive service loaners regularly the last couple of years mostly XC90 and S90, occasionally XC60. I think the XC line are quite good looking in and out. I have always serviced my car at the dealer so pretty much I have driven all the models since mine was new.

Also the 18 back have laggy touchscreens upon starting so the first minute is aggravating trying to stop the autostart. For 19 the autostart stays off.

Now for the good! Pretty much the safety systems are excellent, fit and finish are great, and the new SPA cars have the nicest interiors Volvo has made. I am looking forward to the upcoming all electric models as they will be quick and quiet.

The 98 to 06 S80 has the best seat Volvo ever made in my opinion. Getting in my car today the seat felt so soft compared to the 19 XC I turned in. The 2.9 twin charged T6 engine is so quiet! Also I really like having a key... I really wish Volvo still made my car :!: June

Looked through its history trying to see when the plugs were last changed... Can't see any evidence they ever were at all! What is the recommended replacement for the T5? Seen several threads on here with so many different answers, with the only real reoccurring comment being the gap - 0.028" iirc.

Car is on 185k and does sound 15k a year, so presume platinums are better then copper in this scenarios? Would the Denso pk20pr-p8 be suitable? Or should I be looking at the NGK BKR7EVX which according to SKANDIX at least are the OEM?

I've had good luck with Bosch Coppers, which are recommended on Volvospeed. I believe they are FR7DC. No need to spend extra money on iridium or platinum. I'm much happier with how my V70 runs on the coppers than the platinums that were in there.

I checked out a new S60 at the auto show a couple months back, and I really liked it. The seats were okay, but not as soft and comfortable as my V70. They were firmer and sportier, which I like, but I feel like they wouldn't be as easy on you for longer trips.
One thing I really hated was the touchscreen. I wish you could get all that swapped out for a basic radio and controls. I can't stand all of that stuff. It's a massive distraction and it's confusing to use, and I'm pretty good with that kind of stuff usually.

I haven't driven any of the new Volvos, but I'm not a fan of the new engines based on what I've read about them. I'd have to drive one to give a more detailed opinion, though. I wish they came in manual, though. That would easily solve the issue of the shift-happy 8 speeds! All this new technology and these new trends are why I don't like many new cars though. I'm much happier in a more basic car. That's why I love Miatas so much, they're such basic cars (well, except for the new ones). My 2000 has no traction control, no ABS, no cruise control, no navigation, no cameras, no automatic transmission, no BS! It's just a pure driver's car.

Other than all that, the new Volvos look awfully good! The new S60/V60 R-design is an absolutely gorgeous car!

Visit a parts counter far away from home, I hold up a light bulb and say Hi, Wagner 17171, I'll take 2 please. Guy disappears to the back, comes back with two bulbs, looking at them says, Must be for a German car? I say No, it's Swedish :D Look on his face says Wow, nice!
