Any issues running a 65 Watt Bulb?

Post by BrianV70 »

I have a 2016 V60 T5 FWD - base model with halogen reflector headlights. I think the stock low beams are weak. It uses an H7 low beam bulb (55W) and an H11 high beam (65 watt).

Option 1. Thought about doing an LED bulb upgrade, but it seems that is a bad idea for a reflector housing.

Option 2. Osram Nighbreaker Unlimited. Brightest on "Bulb Facts", lots of good reviews.

Option 3. A higher wattage bulb - 65-70 watts. The Osram Rallye is not available anymore. There is the Nokya Clear H7 65 Watt

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MED0ZSK/?c ... _lig_dp_it

and Hella makes a s 12V 70 Watt!!!! H7 bulb, and they're like 10 bucks!

What could go wrong with option 3? Can the wiring handle it? Will it burn and dull the reflector
housing? Am I reading too much on the internet?

I am not doing anything to change headlight assemblies or major electrical changes. Car is still under factory warranty.

Thanks all

(next question will be fog or driving lights)
