I've read on the Interwebs that some people say you can change the control module as long as the BOSCH and other part numbers match. Well, I tried it- between an 2002 V70 2.4T and a 2001 V70 XC70, and No love. I get a "communication fault" error when I put in the different control modules. Maybe it would work for somebody else, but that's my experience.
Best,
Bert

Bert: I responded to your other post and you are thinking what I outlined. As boostedxc had success, I would try a module from a post 2002 car. The 2001 was a carry over year and that could be the issue. I suppose it is possible your 2002 has a 2001 module swap. If you search replacement modules on eBay you will see that most Volvos run the same module - but the software is application specific.

It didn't work because you have different software numbers. As I already explained to you they need to match and you can easily see them in Vida in Network. Most modules software numbers are different between 2001 and 2002 as there were major network revisions commencing 2002. Even software for window switches differed from 2001 to 2002.
There's only one SRS module in a 2002 V70 and yes under the console. Have the 2001 unit matched by Sergey (Yagger) or get the SAME model year.

If Kidsv70 is getting a "communication fault" will Yagger be able to see it, assuming it is in the 2002 V70?

Thanks, precopster. Sorry about the dumb question about the module under the console; I was just being sure we both were talking about the same thing. I like the idea of using what I've got, so I'll see if I can find Sergey.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

Yes they can remotely scan your car. Sergey uses Team Viewer 11 with VPN support add-in so he can directly steer the interface which is quicker than a remote scan of the car. In this case he can either use your own Vida installation or remotely scan the car with his own Vida.SuperHerman wrote: ↑16 Feb 2019, 22:39 If Kidsv70 is getting a "communication fault" will Yagger be able to see it, assuming it is in the 2002 V70?
