2006 S60 Coolant Leak - PCV line? Topic is solved

My car is leaking coolant from under the intake manifold - it's dripping from the hose I circled in red in the picture, going up to the banjo bolt on the manifold. I'm assuming this is where its coming from - there doesn't appear to be any other place it could be coming from anyway. It doesn't appear that you can buy just this short little section of hose but it looks like the rest of it is metal. Can I just replace this short section? and if so do you just use "heater hose" they sell by the foot?

That hose is part of the whole PCV assembly and keeps the pCV vent line warm to prevent the oil vapors from condensing in the metal pipe.

You can open the clamps and replace the hose with a piece of generic hose. Use good quality. The banjo bolt is vacuum, not coolant. Be careful of the solid vacuum line in that assembly, it breaks easily.

Thank you! I had assumed going out this morning to deal with it that it was the water pump because it was leaking on that side of the car... and now I really kinda wish it was just the water pump

No, you really don't.

That PCV and even the banjo is easier than dealing with the water pump.

While you’re in there I would seriously consider replacing the banjo fitting piece along with the hard plastic vacuum line that is part of it. That plastic line will eventually clog up rendering the PCV system ineffective.

I saw on one if the dealers web sites that the banjo fitting and the attached “V” shaped coolant tube are now sold without the plastic vacuum line, necessitating the use of a separate piece of vacuum hose to connect it up.

Please post that info if you find it Chris , that’s huge. The PCV pipe is a 150 buck part and that’s could save a lot

It looks like both versions might be available. The P/N for the one without the vac tube is 9202208. I think I would prefer WITH the tube if it’s still available.

For the vacuum banjo bolt get the Volvo PN 31325709 along with new crush washers.

Hello,
Reading this is a bit confusing,so please clarify..I have 2005 s60 2.5t there is a silver ,say,3/4 in tube from pcv to side of motor,where it splits..to a banjo bolt and a hose to turbo outlet pipe. On mine the hose to turbo has split..can I block that port from tube to outlet pipe and be done as I'm getting codes and evap leaks
